Lewiston – Richard S. Brown, 83, of Auburn and Venice, Fla., passed away on Monday, March 12, at Central Maine Medical Center.
He was born in Auburn, on April 29, 1923, the son of Stanley S. and Adria C. Carville Brown. He was educated in Auburn schools, graduating from Edward Little High School in 1941, and served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II.
He was employed for 33 years in the family business, the former Carman-Thompson Co. in Lewiston. He was married to Patricia S. Brown, who predeceased him in 1976.
He was a member of the Auburn-Lewiston Kiwanis Club, ELHS Grandstand Club, director of New England Plumbing and Heating Wholesalers, and the American Legion of Venice, Fla.
He is survived by two children, Melissa S. Brown, of Auburn, and Jennifer B. Upson, of Proctor, Vt.; five grandsons, Scott Gousse and wife, Bryna, of Westbrook, Matthew and Jason Brown, of Turner, Edward Upson, of N.H., and Joshua Upson, of Proctor, Vt.
He was also predeceased by a son, Jeffrey C. Brown, in 2005.
