JAY – The second of the two $500 Frank L. Mitchell Post 3335, VFW, and John Newcomb Scholarships was presented on March 7 to Jeffrey Ouellette of Jay. Ouellette attends the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, N.Y. He is the son of Lynn and Dean Ouellette and grandson of Doreen and André Ouellette.
The Scholarship Committee is composed of VFW Post and Auxiliary members. The $500 scholarships are awarded annually to full-time students who are sons, daughters, stepsons, stepdaughters or grandchildren of members of VFW Post 3335. Ouellette was sponsored by his grandfather, André.
The recipients are chosen in a random drawing from the applications received. The winners must attend an accredited school and awards are given for the second semester. Applications are available for next year’s scholarships at Post 3335, 64 Jewell St., or by contacting Fred Jackman at 897-4261.
