JAY – A month ago, Town Clerk Ronda Palmer was worried she wouldn’t have candidates for some positions up for election.

But that all changed after nomination papers were returned Friday.

The only positions not having candidates are three terms on the recently reactivated Jay Power District. Those will be subject to write-in votes once an annual town meeting referendum can be scheduled.

Running for election to fill a three-year selectman’s term held by Barry McDonald are Tom Goding, Warren Bryant and Kurt Hawes, Palmer said.

Four candidates will square-off for two, three-year positions on the Jay School Committee. Incumbents Nancy Chaney and Clint Brooks are being challenged by Marga Hutchinson and Daniel DiPompo.

The two candidates who get the most votes will win the seats on the board.

Also seeking re-election are trustees Richard Jackson on the Jay Village Water District and Michael Wells on the North Jay Water District.
