This is in response to the letter from Elaine B. Graham (March 3).

I don’t know her age, or if she has children, however, her statement that, “The Sun Journal is a part of a vast conspiracy that wishes to undermine traditional ideas of family and marriage,” leads me to believe that she comes from a fundamental religious background.

I would be curious to know if she had a child who was homosexual, would she still classify homosexuality as a “childhood developmental disorder?” Would that child be denied equal rights?

I cannot think of a single gay or lesbian who “chose to be gay” and become a second-class citizen without equality. The news media have a duty to report and expose injustice, especially when it involves a minority of citizens whose existence is threatened on a daily basis.

Pictures and stories showing how normal and routine their activities are is one way of bringing it to the forefront.
