LEWISTON – Raymond L. Roy, 65, of New Gloucester, passed on to be with the Lord on March 13.

He was born in Lewiston, on July 26, 1941, the son of the late Raymond R. and Rita R. Cloutier Roy of Lewiston. He was educated in Lewiston schools and then enlisted in the U.S. Marines.

He married Dorothy Turgeon in 1962. He served 10 years in the military, including several tours in Europe and one tour in Vietnam, during 1965-66. He achieved the rank of staff sergeant.

He returned to Maine to raise his family and build his home together with family and friends while making wonderful memories and bonds never to be forgotten. He joined the New England Carpenters Union local 1996, as a journeyman carpenter and millwright, which included several years with H.C.I. installing doors and hardware. From there he worked at Neokraft Signs Inc., as a fabricator and later took a part-time job delivering vehicles for the Ride Away Corp.

He enjoyed working with his hands, restoring cars and motorcycles, and he loved making puzzles. He could often be seen working around the property preparing wood for the winter, grooming the lawn, making repairs and assisting others.

He was a member of Eastgate Christian Fellowship, of New Gloucester. He belonged to the H.O.G. chapter, the Patriot Guard Riders, and the N.R.A.

His greatest joy was his family. He looked forward to game night, and giving the grandchildren rides on tractors, motorcycles, and anything with wheels. He also enjoyed helping people. You didn’t have to ask him twice.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Raymond D. and his wife, Lynne Caron, of New Gloucester; Matthew J. and his wife, Valerie Gagnon, of Leeds; four grandchildren, Scott R., who is serving in the Navy, Renée L., of New Gloucester, and Jesse and Dora Roy, of Leeds; three brothers, Richard and his wife, Denise, Robert and his wife, Theresa, and Roger and his wife, Irene, all of Lewiston; one sister, Rachael and her husband, Glenn Deblois, of Green; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; and one son, Michael S. Roy.

He and his wife would like to thank Androscoggin Home Health Care and Hospice House for their care and concern.
