DIXFIELD – Selectmen and their counterparts from neighboring Mexico will meet on Monday to discuss hiring Mexico Town Manager John Madigan to serve as part-time interim town manager.
Dixfield Town Manager Jeff Jacobson is leaving his post on March 23 after serving for 14 months.
The Mexico board on Wednesday agreed to share Madigan for April and May, and slightly longer, if necessary. The Dixfield board is advertising for the position. The closing date for applications is March 30.
The special Monday meeting will be held in closed session to work out details for hiring Madigan on an interim basis.
The board also set Thursday, May 31, as the date for this year’s annual town meeting. The event will be held at 6 p.m. at Dirigo Middle School.
In other related town meeting business, Jacobson said nomination papers are available for those who wish to seek a three-year term on the Board of Selectmen or SAD 21 board.
Those interested must gather signatures of at least 25 registered Dixfield voters and return the papers to the town clerk by April 16.
Open selectmen seats this year are for those held by Raymond Carlton and former Selectman Tony Carter.
Seats open on the SAD 21 board are for those held by Barbara Chow and Shelley Harlow.
Voting for the seats will take place on June 12.
