MEXICO – Nomination papers are available for two seats on the Board of Selectmen and two seats on the SAD 43 board. All elective positions are for three years.

Terms are expiring for incumbent Selectmen George Byam and Reggie Arsenault. Byam, a retired businessman who lives on Swett Avenue, is completing his first three-year term. Arsenault, a community activist and resident of Meadow Street, is finishing his second term.

SAD 43 board veteran Betty Barrett of Brook Street will complete her 11th year in June. Incumbent Peter Zanoni, a retired teacher and resident of Gleason Street, will complete seven years service.

Those interested in running for one of the four seats must gather the signatures of at least 25 registered Mexico voters and turn the nomination papers into the town office by April 27.

Elections will be held June 12.

In other town meeting-related business, Mexico residents for the first time will vote on the annual municipal budget and other matters by referendum, rather than through the traditional town meeting.

Town Clerk Penny Duguay said voters will be faced with 13 or 14 referendum questions on June 12.

A public hearing to inform residents of the referendum questions will be held in late May or very early June.
