LEWISTON – P. June Guy, 75, of Seville Park Plaza on Stetson Road in Auburn, passed away early Tuesday, March 13, at Central Maine Medical Center.
She was born in Auburn, on June 5, 1931, a daughter of George and Della (Castner) Welch. She was educated in local schools and remained a lifelong resident of this community. On April 1, 1951 she married George Guy, who predeceased her in 1981.
In her earlier years, she first worked for a time at Knapp Shoe and later at Paine’s Incense in Lewiston. For many years thereafter she worked as a stay-at-home mom, as she and her husband raised their family. She later worked for a few years as a cook, first at Odd Fellows Home and then at the Sarah Frye Home, until her retirement.
She attended East Auburn Baptist Church and in her free time enjoyed reading, but most of all enjoyed special family times with her children, and especially her grandchildren, who meant the world to her. She also loved living at Schooner Estates for the last 10 months, since moving in. She made many new friends there and enjoyed a new found social life in a place that felt like nothing less than home to her.
She leaves two sons, Timothy Guy and wife, Evangeline, of National City, Calif., and John Guy and wife, Amanda, of Auburn; five grandchildren, Elmer Blais, Tom Diel Guy, Angelika Guy, Jakob Guy and Jonathan Guy; a sister, Ethel Scott and husband, Preston, of Aliquippa, Pa.; two brothers, Frank “Bud” Welch Sr. and wife, Dolly, of Lewiston, and Millard (“Mim”) Welch and wife, Mattie, of Alna; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son at birth, Steven George Guy; a daughter at birth, Kristi Lynn Guy; a sister, Georgine “Sis” MacDonald; nephews, Raymond MacDonald and Jason Welch; and a niece, Becky Scott.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the entire staff of ICU at CMMC, the staff at Clover Health Care, and to the staff, friends and her extended family at Schooner Estates.
