RUMFORD – Friends of the Rumford Library will show the 1939 comedy-drama “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington” Friday, March 23, as part of its old-film series. Beloved and legendary film icon James Stewart plays the leading role in this award-winning movie that pits idealism against corruption in Washington, D.C., politics.

The film will be shown at 7 p.m. in the library’s public room. Running time is 130 minutes. Refreshments and the showing are free to the public.
