A story in Friday’s business section about recent rehires at Bath Iron Works misstated the relationship between the Bath yard and Austal USA, a shipyard in Mobile, Ala.

Austal is a major subcontractor with BIW’s parent corporation, General Dynamics, in the production of littoral combat ships.

Also, BIW spokesman Jim DeMartini did not speculate on whether the possible loss of work at a competitor’s yard could mean more work in Bath.

The information was incorrectly reported by the Sun Journal.
