WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) – The Worcester Sharks fought back with a goal in the second and two in the third to beat the Portland Pirates 3-2 in American Hockey League action Sunday.

The Sharks were trailing after the first period, 2-0. Tom Cavanagh had two goals while Mathieu Darche had the other and added an assist for the victory.

Ryan Carter and Brian Salcido scored for Portland, which had a 14-1 advantage in shots on goal in the first period. The Sharks then had a 30-10 edge in shots for the final two periods.

With Carter scoring first, then Salcido, Portland was leading 2-0 before the first period was 10 minutes old.

Cavanagh began the Worcester comeback with a goal at 10:19 of the second period. Darche tied it at 3:29 of the second period after a one-handed pass by Graham Mink.

Cavanagh got the game winner at 11:57 of the third period with the Sharks on a power play. He converted a pass from Lukas Kaspar.
