This is in response to Thomas Shields’ letter of March 14.
The so-called war that he referred to was started by a Republican president, and strongly supported by that party. Bush led the American people to believe that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction.
Once Saddam was toppled from power, it became clear that Iraq harbored no such weapons.
But now the American people are stuck fighting a war that was started for no other reason than to take Saddam out of power. He was not a threat to this country, like most people here were led to believe. He was more ego than threat.
And speaking of 9/11 and going after the terrorists, the Republicans – after more than five years – have not even come close to getting the actual culprit of that devastation.
How can Shields say that Democrats, or liberals, are not supporting the war on terrorism? Wait a minute, here. How about getting the culprit – Osama bin Laden?
By the way, I am a registered Republican and will be voting for a Democrat.
Enough lies and cheating from the current administration.
