LISBON FALLS – Lisbon Adult Education has openings in early spring classes that start in March, April and May.

On Monday, March 26, there will be a “Gardening in the Spring” class. Participants will learn what should be done to get gardens and yards ready for planting, including flower bed preparation and starting seeds early. The class will meet from 6 to 8 p.m.

A decorative painting class, also know as tole painting, will meet from 6 to 8:30 p.m. for two weeks starting Wednesday, March 28.

An “Advanced Web Page Design” class will be offered starting Monday, March 26. The class will use Dreamweaver and requires intermediate knowledge of Web design and beginning knowledge of Dreamweaver software. The class will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. for four weeks.

An “Introduction of Office” class will start on Wednesday, March 28. The class will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. for eight weeks. It will introduce student to all aspects of the Microsoft Office Suite.

A “Word Document Preparation” class will start Monday, March 26, and will meet for four weeks from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. The class will teach how to set up letters, memos and reports and the use of tables and Microsoft tools.

Several quilting classes will be offered in March and April. A reversible quilt class will meet on Tuesday, March 20. The one-night class will teach a fast technique for quilting for beginners and experienced quilters. Another class, “Curves Made Easy,” will meet for three weeks starting Tuesday, March 27. Students will learn to sew curved seams using several techniques. Both classes will meet from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Starting Wednesday, April 11, a class will meet from 9:30 a.m. to noon for two weeks. It will teach techniques for a stained glass quilt. The final class will start on Wednesday, May 9, and will meet for three weeks from 9:30 a.m. to noon. It will teach a variety of quilting techniques to make a sampler quilt. The students will be provided with a kit to use as they experiment with techniques and products.

Samples of the quilting projects may be viewed at the Lisbon Adult Education Office located at Lisbon High School.

A “Maine Driving Dynamics” class will be held on Tuesday and Thursday, April 10 and 12. Attendance at both classes is required to receive the three-point credit on the participant’s driving record. The class will meet from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

A hunter safety class will start on Tuesday, April 24. It will meet for five evenings on a Tuesday-Thursday schedule from 6 to 9 p.m.

Several personal finance seminars are scheduled for March. “Plan Your Retirement Paycheck” will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, and “Bridge the Generation Gap: Plan Your Legacy” will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 28.

An afternoon painting class, “Painting in the Medium of Your Choice,” will meet for five weeks starting Wednesday, April 25. The class will run from 12:30 to 3 p.m. All ability levels are welcome.

A children’s craft class, “May Baskets,” will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 25. The family activity is appropriate for children ages 4 through 12. All materials are provided.

An American Red Cross pet first aid class will meet for two weeks from 6 to 8 p.m. starting March 29. Participants will learn how to handle medical emergencies for family pets and will receive a pet first aid kit.

A pre-Algebra class will start on Monday, April 9. The class meets for eight weeks from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and is designed to prepare students for Algebra I.

GED testing is offered from 2:30 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. Individuals must be 18 to enroll in the GED program, and accommodations are available for eligible individuals with disabilities. Morning testing is available by appointment.
