LEWISTON – Michael R. Newcomb Sr., 50, of Wilton, died on Tuesday, March 20, at Central Maine Medical Center with his loving family by his side.
He was born on Dec. 3, 1956, in Farmington, a son of George A. Newcomb, Sr. and Violet (Dill) DiRenzo.
He attended schools in Wilton, Portland and Connecticut.
On Dec. 20, 1985, he married Shari L. Huff.
While living in Portland, he had been employed by Coca Cola Co.. Over the years, he had worked at several area shoe factories, including, G.H. Bass, Cole Hahn, Allen Edmonds and NEODS.
Mike was a NASCAR fan, with his favorite driver being Dale Earnhardt, then later, Dale Earnhardt Jr. He also liked watching the Boston Red Sox and the Dallas Cowboys.
He enjoyed playing tennis, bowling, going hunting and pitching horseshoes, but his favorite outdoor activity was fishing, a sport at which he became very proficient.
He spent many happy summer vacations at area lakes with his wife, daughters, mother-in-law, Barb, and father-in-law, Chick.
He looked forward to camping out with his wife, family and friends on the island in Porter Lake, as well as at Echo Lake.
He loved his family very much and will be sadly missed by his devoted wife, Shari, of Wilton; two daughters, Danielle Newcomb and her fiancé, Chris Simmons, of Wilton, and Chelsea Newcomb and her companion, Matt Cloutier, of Jay; one son, Michael Newcomb Jr. of Portland; his mother, Violet DiRenzo of Jay; sisters, Rosemarie Levesque and her husband, Paul, of Jay, Peggy Hanson of Windham, Ann Marie Richards and her husband, Steve, of Jay, Laurie Laskey and her husband, David, of Topsham and Sue Gallogly and her husband, Bill, of Rhode Island; brothers, George “Sonny” Newcomb and his wife, Trish, of Livermore Falls, Victor Butterfield and his wife, Pam, of Jay, Jim Newcomb of Livermore Falls, and Jeff Newcomb of Livermore Falls; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by his father, George “Bud” Newcomb.
