I encourage every resident of Poland to come to town meeting, listen to the discussion and vote on the articles that tax dollars will be used for. The running of the town should not be done by just a few; it needs to be done by a majority of residents, working together, through the selectmen and through others who are appointed by them.
We need to have confidence in their ability to listen to the townspeople, to spend the town’s tax dollars wisely, and to represent the good of the town, even if the will of the people conflicts with personal opinion on matters put before them. If that isn’t happening, residents need to help ensure that it does.
