NORWAY – Ella P. Rolfe, 85, passed away on Tuesday, March 20, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Berlin, N.H., on Dec. 11, 1921, the daughter of James and Lizzie Maude Kittredge. She married Winfield Rolfe on Sept. 19, 1937, who passed away on Feb. 16, 1991.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and was known to many as “Mammie.” She had many jobs in her lifetime, but was the proudest of the time she worked for Stephen King, whom she became great friends with.
She was a member of the North Waterford Congregational Church and an honorary member of Stoneham Rescue.
She is survived by two sons, Harold Rolfe and wife, Mary, and Bruce “Gibby” Rolfe and wife, Linda, all of Albany Township; a brother, Henry Kittredge, of Winston, Ga.; five grandchildren, Danny Rolfe, Lorrie Hatstat, Becky Pike, Robin Downing and Karen Ritchie; seven great-grandchildren, Baylee and Brennan Hatstat, Abby Rolfe, Casey Pike, Samantha Downing, Vada Ritchie, and Ella Rose Yelton, who is due any day; three step-grandchildren, Jackie Morin, Laurie Herndon and Jennifer Bassett; nine step-great-grandchildren, Savanna and Alysa Morin, Joey, Jordin, Jami and Joshua Bassett, David and Danielle Psleger, and Kathy Herndon; and two special grandchildren-in-law, Laurie Rolfe and Adrian Morin.
She was predeceased by a son, Michael Rolfe; a daughter, Margaret Pike; three brothers, Arthur, Lewis and Herbert Kittredge; a sister, Lillian Herrick; and her mother and father.
