DURHAM – Firefighters were still at the scene of a house fire at 905 Royalsborough Road late Wednesday night conducting mop-up operations.

The fire was reported shortly after 10 p.m. in the older 2-story woodframe farmhouse, less than a half-mile from the Durham fire station.

According to witnesses, the occupants were outside the building when firefighters arrived and flames could be seen inside the home.

The United Valley Red Cross and the Salvation Army responded to the scene to assist the fire victims, a Fire Department spokesman said.

There were no reports of injuries.

Mutual aid was provided by Lisbon, Pownal and Freeport fire departments.

No further information was available late Wednesday.
