Lewiston – Augustus J. Tamborrino, 86, of Schooner Estates, died on Wednesday, March 21, at Central Maine Medical Center.

He was born in the Bronx, N.Y., on Nov. 5, 1920, a son to the late John and Adeline (Marra) Tamborrino. He married the love-of-his-life, Lydia L. Plasmati, on Jan. 24, 1954. In his younger years he worked for B.F. Goodrich, and later became a foreign Language teacher for 18 years in New York He was an avid reader and enjoyed playing bridge.

He leaves a daughter, Diane Nugent, and her husband, Edward, of Monmouth; two sons, Richard Tamborrino and his wife, Candice, of Florida, and Michael Tamborrino, of Connecticut; six grandchildren, Richard Tamborrino II, Christina Nugent, Nicole Nugent, Brian Nugent, William Petrik and Rebecca Henry; two great-grandchildren, Brianne Henry, and Tori Petrik; and many friends and staff at Schooner Estates.

He was predeceased by his wife, Lydia; and a brother, Remo Tamborrino.
