JAY – St. Rose of Lima Circle, Daughters of Isabella, met March 7 following the 6:30 p.m. Mass at St. Rose Church.

Regent Jackie Castonguay presided and the opening prayer was led by Chancellor Laureanne Castonguay. A short-form conferral was held to accept new members, Eva Henry and Sandra Chasse.

Jackie Castonguay called the roll call of officers. Thank-you notes were received from Cecile Dupont, Penny Laverdiere, the family of Annette Fournier and Sue Mancini and the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital.

Money was collected at St. Rose Church for the Super Bowl of Caring, and $1,000 was sent to the local food bank. Jackie Castonguay announced 547 youths had attended the Catholic youth convention in Nashua, N.H.

The Daughters of Isabella State Convention will be held April 18, 19 and 20 in Freeport and the Brunswick circle will host the event. The theme this year will be “Baskets.” The St. Rose theme will be “Kraft Baskets.” The Daughters of Isabella will sell raffle tickets for the baskets to be auctioned off at the convention.

Daughters of Isabella will hold the annual yard sale from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at St. Rose of Lima Church Hall. Anyone wanting to donate items for the sale may bring them to the church hall on Friday afternoon, April 27. Food, cloths, crafts and white elephant items would be appreciated.

First communion will be held on May 6 at St, Rose of Lima Church at the 8:30 a.m. Mass. Five boys and 13 girls will receive their first communion. A light lunch and a social will be held at the church hall, hosted by the Daughters of Isabella, which will award each candidate a first communion pin.

Carnations will be sold following the Masses at St. Rose Church on the weekend of May 12 and 13 for Mother’s Day. Any donation will be appreciated.

Jackie Castonguay announced the Daughters of Isabella will sponsor one high school girl from the local area for Girls State this spring. Daughters of Isabella will also contribute to the Livermore Falls Middle School Price is Right game night being held Saturday, April 7, at the middle school.

Plans will be discussed at the April meeting for the Memorial Day parade float for the Daughters of Isabella.
