WEST PARIS – A special 100th birthday party was held on March 4 for Erlon Hammond at the Ledgeview Living Center activity room.

His children, Clara and husband Robert John of West Paris, Carlene Turner of Hartford and Raymond and wife Marilyn of South Paris and their families planned the party. Hammond has three grandsons and four great-grandsons.

He was born on March 6, 1907, son of Charles and Lida Hammond. His mother died when he was 11. His father remarried.

Hammond married Tena Colburn, who died in 1968. He later married Zelda Wing. He worked at the sled factory and Wilner Wood Heel in South Paris, also the paper mill in Rumford.

There were about 50 relatives and friends attending the party.
