AUBURN – Maine State Police are investigating how an 8-month-old Auburn girl was apparently injured while being cared for by her mother’s boyfriend Thursday night.

Emily-Leigh Cole was on life support at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland said Friday night.

A spokesman at the medical center did not release her condition.

The baby is the daughter of 32-year-old Libby St. Pierre of 113 Broad St.

McCausland said Emily-Leigh was being cared for in St. Pierre’s apartment by her boyfriend, 23-year-old Todd Adam Gamache. Gamache lives at the same address, according to police records.

McCausland said Auburn police and ambulance personnel responded to a 911 call from the apartment of an unresponsive child there about 8 p.m. Thursday. The baby was taken to a Lewiston hospital and later transferred to Portland, he said.

Gamache was arrested about 2 a.m. Friday by Auburn police on outstanding warrants unrelated to the baby’s apparent injuries, McCausland said. The charges include violating the conditions of release, operating without a license, disorderly conduct, refusing to submit to arrest, and driving to endanger, according to officials at the Androscoggin County Jail, where he is being held on a total of $1,790 cash bail.
