LEWISTON – The Longley School Chili & Chowder Cookoff will be held Wed. April 4 at the Ramada Inn Conference Center. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Chefs from around the area will showcase their chilis and chowders to be judged by ticket holders and officials.
First, second and third places will be awarded for best chili, best chowder, and a people’s choice. Awards will also be presented for best overall display.
Lewiston Regional Technical College chef Dan Caron and pastry Chef Katie Liguori solicited help from chefs in local restaurants and catering facilities. Chefs participating are from: Aromas Fine Dining, Davinci’s Eatery, Fast Breaks, Governor’s Restaurant, Mt. Abram Family Resort, Poppy’s Catering, Dudley’s at the Ramada Inn, Rolly’s Diner, South of the Border, The Village Inn Restaurant, Youly’s Family Restaurant, Saddleback Ski Resort, The Carriage House Restaurant, Granit Hill, Always Fresh Seafood, Texas B.B.Q., Uncle Moe’s, Antonio’s New York Deli & Bakery, Hurricanes, Landry’s Quick Stop, Patrick Burritos Bistro & Deli, Little Dan’s BBQ, Mulligan’s, Deshai’s, Buddy T’s Pub & Restaurant, and Warden’s Bar & Grill.
Along with the restaurant entries, students from LRTC’s culinary arts program will provide pastries and breads to accompany the chilis and chowders. A 50/50 drawing will also be held.
Tickets are $10 in advance, available at all restaurant locations listed above as well as at Longley School and the Sun Journal’s customer service department in Lewiston. Tickets will also be available at the door on the evening of the event for $12 each.
Longley School faculty and Sun Journal volunteers are still accepting donations for gift baskets to be raffled at the event. For more information or to donate items for the raffle baskets, please contact Pauline Valliere at Longley School at 795-4120.
