LEWISTON – Mildred I. “Gram” Richard, 76, of Monmouth died Wednesday morning, March 21, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, after battling a long illness.

She was born May 28, 1930, in a farmhouse in Leeds, the daughter of Willis and Iona Glidden Hartford.

After graduating from Monmouth Academy in 1948, she went to work at the local mill as a textile spinner. She married her love, Francis X. Richard, on New Year’s Eve in 1952. They raised three children, and their home became a haven for friends and family who needed a place to go.

The greatest enjoyment that Mildred found in life were her family and friends. She was a creative, kind, loving and resilient woman, a friend to all. She was a great listener and had a way of making everyone know how very special they were. She enjoyed going to the ocean, especially Bailey Island, her hobbies and playing Bingo. She enjoyed life!

She is survived by her children, Linda Arsenault, Judy, and husband, Gary Boucher, Blaine Richard, and companion, Sue Manley, and Deb Cox, and her family; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Shawn and Becca Arsenault and their daughter, Chelse, Justin Arsenault and his daughters, Tiffany and Elissa, Katie Richard and companion, Kalon Birkner, and Robert Richard.
