LEWISTON – Richard N. Ward Sr., 71, a resident of Washington Street, Auburn, died Friday morning, March 23, at Central Maine Medical Center after a long illness.

He was born in Portland, Feb. 26, 1936, the son of James F. and Evangeline (Murphy) Norton. He attended Portland schools, and following his education became a commercial trucker working at various Maine businesses until he became disabled.

In his spare time, he was a jack of all trades who especially enjoyed small engine repair.

Survivors include his partner of 29 years, Margo Charest of Auburn; two sons, James Cook and his wife, Nikki, of Oxford, and Rick Ward of Florida; one daughter, Elizabeth Perro and her husband, Bobby, of Milford; one brother, Fred Brady of Bangor; two sisters, Ethel Phillips of Windham, and Rose Pierce and her husband, Chet, of Hiram; and three grandchildren.
