NEW YORK (AP) – A man trying to avoid the police officers who were knocking on his apartment door scampered out onto a 19th-floor terrace and fell to his death, police said.

The officers went to Peter Parsons’ apartment in Brooklyn on Saturday night because he was wanted for assaulting his girlfriend earlier that day, police said.

When the officers knocked on his door, he tried to escape by climbing out onto the terrace, they said.
