JAY – A Jay man was arrested Sunday on a charge of unlawful sexual contact with a child under the age of 14 on March 24, police Chief Larry White Sr. said.

Richard L. Ganci Jr., 36, of 9 Otis St., posted $3,000 unsecured bail following his arrival at Franklin County detention center in Farmington. As part of his bail, White said, Ganci is to have no contact with the victim or to try to contact the victim.

The child was an acquaintance of Ganci’s, White said.

Ganci has a court date of April 24 in Franklin County Superior Court in Farmington.

A family member of the victim reported the alleged assault to police. Detective Richard Caton IV is the investigating officer, White said.
