NORWAY – A race may be shaping up for two vacant seats on the Board of Selectmen.
Four people have taken out nomination papers, including incumbent Selectman Robert Walker, to fill seats now held by Walker and Selectman George Tibbetts Jr.
“Well, I’m trying to determine whether I’ll run or not,” Tibbetts said Monday night. The three-term selectman said he believes he will have an answer within the next week or two.
Town Clerk Shirley Boyce said nomination papers are being circulated by Walker, former Selectwoman Irene Millett, volunteer firefighter Joseph Tracey and Bruce Cook, a budget committee member.
Election season got under way last week when nomination papers for the annual town election become available.
Nomination papers must have 25 registered voters and be returned to the Town Clerk’s office by April 30. There are 3,700 registered voters in town.
Besides the two open selectmen seats, Donald Ware is up for re-election as SAD 17 director. Library Trustees Dennis Gray, Lynette Gatchell and Charles Longley are also up for re-election.
