SOUTH PARIS – Roger L. Swallow, 65, of Kittery, died Tuesday, March 27, at Market Square Health Care Center, where he had resided for the past two months.

He was born in Norway on April 30, 1941, the son of Perley and Arlene Tunney Swallow.

He graduated from Paris High School in 1959, and went on to Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, where he graduated from apprentice school and worked as a pipefitter.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Following his tour of duty, he returned to the shipyard, where he held an office job until his retirement at the age of 52. He had worked at the shipyard for 34 years.

He loved camping and enjoyed children. He was a member and past president of the NAFCA, member and past president of the Pine Tree Chapter No. 33, and a member of the Palm Tree Chapter No. 27, in Florida. He was also a member of the 49’ers and other chapters.

He wintered in Florida and camped in Maine in the summer. He once belonged to a bowling league in Portsmouth, N.H.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by four sisters, Patricia Smart and husband, Owen, of Bridgton and Florida, Sharon Martel and her companion, Norman Smith Jr., of Oxford, Perlene Mecervier and her companion, George May, of South Paris, and Nancy Kimball and her husband, Don, of Oxford.

He was predeceased by his parents; and a niece, Denise Mecervier.
