Shop to reopen
JAY – The North Jay Methodist Parish Thrift Shop on Route 17 will reopen Friday and Saturday, March 30 and 31, and continue to be open every Friday and Saturday through Nov. 10. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Memorial meeting
JAY – The VFW, American Legion and Amvets will hold the first Memorial Day meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, at the VFW. The public is welcome.
Film showing
FARMINGTON – The Western Mountains Peace Action Workshop will show a film, “Wall” by Simone Bitton, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, in Thomas Auditorium, University of Maine at Farmington.
“Wall,” or Mur as it is known in French, is a cinematic meditation on the Israeli- Palestinian conflict in which the filmmaker blurs the lines of hatred by asserting her double identity as Jew and Arab.
Thomas Auditorium is located on High Street. There is no charge, but donations will be accepted to continue the monthly film series. For more information, call 652-2377.
Plant display
PHILLIPS – Those wishing to display a plant in memory or honor of a loved one at the Phillips Shared Ministry Easter morning service may bring it to the Congregational Church between 2 and 4 p.m. Saturday, April 7.
They should mark the plant with a name and give the memorial information to Fran Lockwood, who will be at the church placing the plants, so that it can be listed in the church bulletin. For more information, call 639-5937.
Program speaker
WILTON – “The Fifties, Let the Good Times Roll” will be the program from 11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, at the Boiler Room, hosted by the Western Mountain Women’s Connection. Alan Hutchinson, on the piano, will host “Name that Tune.” Guest speaker will be Ella Pickering.
