RUMFORD – Bella M. Stone, 94, died Tuesday, March 27, at the Rumford Community Home. She was a resident of Penobscot Street in Rumford.
Born in Rumford, June 3, 1912, she was a daughter of Albert J. and Denise M. (Richard) Melanson. She attended Rumford Schools and worked at the Delle Shop in Rumford.
She was a communicant of St. Athanasius and St. John Church. She was a member of St. Timothy Circle 504, Daughters of Isabella, and she was also a member of the Mexico Mother’s Club.
She was married in Rumford, March 28, 1932, to the late Earle R. Stone Sr., who died in Rumford, July 24, 1973.
Survivors include four sons, Earle R. Stone Jr. of Boca Raton, Fla., Wallace Stone of Dallas, Texas, Jim Stone and his wife, Caroline, of Rangeley, and Jerry Stone and his wife, Sally, of Dixfield; a daughter, Linda Mercier of Scarborough; three brothers, Leo Melanson of Rumford, Richard Melanson and his wife, Julie, of Dixfield, and Albert Melanson and his wife, Elizabeth, of Germany; two sisters, Ida Lyon of Scarborough, and Mariette Patrick of Fayettteville, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Omer Melanson, Alcide “Jack” Melanson and George Melanson; and a sister, Viola Arsenault.
