BOSTON – Paul Pierce scored 32 points, Al Jefferson added 23 points and 13 rebounds, and the Boston Celtics held on for a 105-96 double-overtime win over the Orlando Magic on Wednesday night.

Delonte West scored 17, and Kendrick Perkins had 11 points and 12 rebounds for the Celtics, who outscored Orlando 15-6 in the second overtime to finish their home stand 2-2.

After sending the game into overtime with an 18-foot jumper at the end of regulation and double overtime with a long 3-pointer at the end of the first extra session, Pierce gave Boston the lead for good when his free throw made it 93-92 with 2:57 left.

Jefferson then scored eight straight to secure the win.

His jumper made it 95-92, he then followed a long Hedo Turkoglu jumper with six straight points to stretch Boston’s lead to 101-94.

Turkoglu and Grant Hill each had 20 points for Orlando. Dwight Howard added 12 points and 14 rebounds for the Magic, who ended a two-game winning streak.

The Magic, chasing their first playoff berth since 2003, dropped to eighth place in the Eastern Conference – a half-game behind New Jersey.

Orlando leads the ninth-place Indiana Pacers and New York Knicks by 11/2 games. The top eight teams make the playoffs.

The Celtics led by as many as 14, squandered a 50-40 halftime lead and trailed by two points late in regulation, but Pierce’s jumper bailed them out with 7.6 seconds left.

Pierce then scored all seven of Boston’s points in the first overtime, and his 3-pointer erased Orlando’s 90-87 lead. Jameer Nelson had a chance to win it for Orlando, but his 3-pointer fell short.

In the second overtime, Boston forced four Orlando turnovers and held the Magic to 3-of-10 shooting.

Spurs 92, Hornets 88

SAN ANTONIO – Tim Duncan scored 31 points, including his first 3-pointer of the season, to help the San Antonio Spurs beat the New Orleans Hornets 92-88 on Wednesday night.

Wizards 111, 76ers 108

WASHINGTON – Caron Butler scored 21 points in his return from a knee injury, including two key free throws with 14 seconds left to help the Washington Wizards hold off the Philadelphia 76ers 111-108 on Wednesday night.

DeShawn Stevenson added a season-high 28 points for the Wizards, who ended a three-game losing streak.

Knicks 97, Cavaliers 93

NEW YORK – Eddy Curry scored 13 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter, Stephon Marbury rattled in a clinching 3-pointer with 8.5 seconds left, and the New York Knicks revived their playoff hopes Wednesday night by beating the Cleveland Cavaliers 97-93 to snap a four-game losing streak.

Marbury and Channing Frye each finished with 16 points for the Knicks, who won for just the second time in eight games.

Bobcats 101, Hawks 87

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Gerald Wallace scored 31 points and the Charlotte Bobcats beat the Atlanta Hawks 101-87 on Wednesday night in a matchup of two of the worst teams in the NBA.

Wallace was nearly perfect after missing last Saturday’s overtime loss to New Jersey while complaining of severe cramping and a sore hip.

Wallace hit 12 of 16 shots, 7 of 9 free throws and added nine rebounds as the Bobcats snapped a two-game losing streak and won their 27th game, one more than last season.

Raptors 96, Heat 83

TORONTO – Chris Bosh became Toronto’s career leader in double-doubles when he had 13 points and 17 rebounds in the Raptors’ 96-83 victory Wednesday night that moved them ahead of the Miami Heat for third place in the Eastern Conference.

Anthony Parker added 20 points for Raptors, who had six players score in double figures.

Nets 118, Pacers 94

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Rookie Josh Boone scored a career-high 22 points Wednesday night to lead the New Jersey Nets to a 118-94 victory over the Indiana Pacers.

Boone came off the bench to hit 11 of 13 from the field. He also pulled down 10 rebounds in his second strong game. Boone was perfect on all 10 shots from the field.
