On March 21, there was an article in the Sun Journal that totally misquoted me. I want to set the record straight.

What I told the reporter, when I was called, was that I had not heard or seen the offer from the town of Waterford until the March 19 selectmen’s meeting. I was surprised that the offer was read aloud at the meeting because we were under a gag rule. I told the reporter that I still could not talk about it, and that I was told it was something the attorneys had to handle.

That someone chose to introduce it in open session meant one member did not agree with the gag rule. The article is now a cause of problems.

I want people to know that I did not refuse the offer. I was not at liberty to say, one way or another. As of this moment, I still have not seen the offer in writing.

I appreciate all the support and assistance I have gotten from the citizens of Waterford, Stoneham and Albany, and also those of Bethel, Hanover and Newry.

The kindness and support have meant a lot to me.

Rockie Graham, Waterford
