LEWISTON – Philomena “Phil” Colabelli, 90, formerly of 80 Bradley St., Lewiston, died Wednesday, March 27, at the d’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston.
She was born in Berlin, N.H., August 14, 1916, the daughter of Frank and Margherita Dominici Colabelli. She moved to Rome with her family, and after completing high school, she returned to the United States. She made her home in Lewiston after she came here for a visit. She went to work at Carroll’s Cut Rate Drug Store, where she stayed for 22 years, and later worked at Clark’s Pharmacy until her retirement in 1981.
A member of St. Joseph’s Parish, she also belonged to Robin Dow, and the Auburn, Lewiston, and Holy Cross senior citizens associations. Cooking was her favorite hobby, and her specialty was her Italian dishes. She also loved to travel, returning to Rome as often as possible.
Survivors include her loving sister, Antonietta and her husband, Cosimo Antonacci, of Rome, Italy; a niece, Marie Ciampa of Ogunquit; and nephew, Mario “Chuck” Cole of Randolph, Mass.; also, she is survived by many great-nieces and nephews in the United States and Italy.
She was predeceased by her parents; and her brothers Mario and Americo Colabelli.
