MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) – Sean Blanchard scored two goals to help the Portland Pirates defeat the Manchester Monarchs 3-0 Wednesday night.

Joe Motzko added an empty-net goal to finish off the Portland goal scoring.

David McKee backstopped the victory, stopping all 17 shots he faced. Jason LaBarbera took the loss for Manchester, stopping 21 Pirate shots.

Blanchard netted his second marker of the game early in the second period to give the Pirates a 2-0 advantage.

Blanchard broke a scoreless tie with 42 seconds remaining in the first period, to give Portland a 1-0 lead after the first period.
