Wellington – Florence E. Brazier, 79, formerly of Wellington, died March 30 at Woodlawn Nursing Home in Skowhegan after a long battle with Alzheimer’s, surrounded by her loving family.
Born Feb. 8, 1928, in Wellington, she was the daughter of Milford and Edna (Staples) Bemis.
Florence married the late Almon Brazier in 1947. She was a member of the Wellington Grange and a past member of the VFW in Dexter.
She had many hobbies that she enjoyed, including cooking, gardening, sewing, crocheting and watching the horse pulls. She enjoyed taking care of her horse, Thunder Bolt, along with all of her other pets.
She loved family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She spent her time after retirement helping care for the elderly around her community.
Florence is survived by five children, Loyd Brazier and his wife, Christine, of Wellington, Crystal Avery of Athens, Sandra Rackliff of Jay, Doreen Cain and her husband, Ed, of Cornville, Cindy Huff and her husband, Mike, of Athens; one stepson, Keith Brazier and his wife, Debbie Brazier, of Belmont, N.H.; two brothers, Milford Bemis Jr. of Newport and Errol Bemis and his wife, Ruby, of Pittsfield; seven grandchildren, Bruce, Lorraine, Gary, Althea, Valerie, Amy and Travis; 16 great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband, Almon Brazier, on Nov. 7, 1997; and two grandsons, Mathew Huff in 1998 and Billy Fox in 1996.
The family of Florence Brazier would like to thank the staff at Woodlawn Nursing Home in Skowhegan for the excellent care given to Florence during her stay with them.
