LEWISTON – George G. Harris, 64, passed away at his home on April 1, following a short but peaceful encounter with lung cancer.

George owned April Fools’ Day. Many of his friends and family members awaited his phone call on April 1, each year. He tried to get all of us, and was often successful. So, it is fitting that we all have this day to continue to remember and celebrate his great sense of humor.

Born Dec. 11, 1942, a graduate of L/A College, and the University of Southern Maine, L/A, he was a dedicated social worker who made differences in the lives of many families throughout the years. He was an ardent fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. He was an avid photographer, he loved to take pictures of his family and friends. He truly enjoyed and was very skilled at making a scene look just that much more interesting through his photographs. He also enjoyed endless hours of card playing with family and friends, although his photography skills greatly outmatched his card playing ability.

He is survived by his wife of over 25 years, Karen (LaMarche) Harris; his mother, Beatrice Harris; a sister, Peggy and her husband, Rod Theobald, of Sheboygan, Wis.; his children, Scott Harris and wife, Kelly, of Lisbon, Tracey Woodman of Monmouth, Teri Lucas and husband, Bob, of Bronx, N.Y., T.J. Milashouskas and wife, Carmen, of Portland, Ore., Kris Riendeau and husband, Eric, of Durham, Jacqui Harris and husband, David Hayden, of Henniker, N.H., Staff Sgt. Peggy Milashouskas of Patrick A.F.B., Fla., and Matt Harris of Norwood, Mass.; eight grandchildren, Sean Harris, Katie and Ben Woodman, Maggie and Emmie Riendeau, Trahmel and Zaria Milashouskas, Colby Hayden; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father, Wilfred Harris; and his brother, Bill Harris.
