FARMINGTON – A 69-year-old Jay man was ordered to serve 15 years of a 25-year sentence for sexually assaulting a young Jay boy.
When Robert Storer leaves prison – he’ll be 84 if he serves the sentence without parole – he will be on supervised release for the rest of his life.
Storer, formerly of 745 Franklin Road, pleaded no contest Friday in Franklin County Superior Court to six counts of gross sexual assault on the boy and one count of unlawful sexual contact with him in February, according to court documents.
Charges of visual sexual aggression against a child and a misdemeanor charge of unlawful sexual touching were previously dismissed by the state.
Justice Joseph Jabar found Storer guilty at that time.
Storer, who had been unable to make the $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 property surety since his arrest in September, has resided at the Franklin County jail in Farmington pending sentencing.
The court would have heard testimony if the case had gone to trial that Storer had performed oral sex on the boy and had the child perform oral sex on him between Sept. 1, 2005, and Sept. 3, 2006, an assistant district attorney said in February.
Storer was also sentenced Friday to 15 years on the remaining five counts of gross sexual assault and 10 years on the unlawful sexual contact charge to run concurrent with the 25-year sentence.
Storer also must register as a lifetime sex offender.
