FARMINGTON – The Tanglewood Marionettes, skilled puppeteers who have spent many years perfecting their art, will present “Cinderella” Friday, April 13, at the University of Maine at Farmington.

Founded in 1993 by Anne Ware and Peter Schaefer, Tanglewood Marionettes is a nationally touring marionette theater based in New England known mostly for presenting classic tales.

Set in the 18th century and featuring a dozen lavishly costumed 30-inch marionettes, “Cinderella” unfolds as the pages of a giant book open to reveal each beautifully painted setting, including the village square, rustic kitchen and magnificent ballroom.

The Tanglewood Marionettes have performed at The Children’s Museum, First Night and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, all in Boston. They have been featured performers at the Puppeteers of America National Festival, and have been invited to perform at the prestigious Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta, Ga.

The April 13 performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Nordica Auditorium. General admission is $5 for adults, $15 maximum per family and free for ages 5 and under. There are no advance ticket sales. For more information, call 645-2157.
