Obviously, I do not know exactly what the police were trying to accomplish by having a lengthy standoff with a suspected killer. From what I have read, there was no doubt who killed Margaret Peters.

After so many hours of negotiations, what were the police trying to negotiate?

Did the police try sending stun grenades or some other device through a window to subdue the person inside? Why put police officers in needless danger to make sure a suspected killer is brought out alive? What a terrible ending that could have been, by the way it was handled.
