LEWISTON – A celebration of life service honoring George L. Stone was held Monday afternoon at the Pinette & Lynch Funeral Home and Cremation Services, with the Rev. Linda Gard presiding.
The VFW Post No. 1603 and Tyrian Lodge No. 73 A.F. and A.M. both held ceremonies prior to the service.
Philip House was the organist during the service, who was a close friend of the family. In attendance was a delegation of members of the Telephone Pioneers.
After Rev. Gard’s benediction, the U.S. Army Honor detail played “Taps,” and presented our country’s flag to George’s wife, Ginny, in recognition of her husband’s service to his country during World War II.
At the conclusion of services all were invited to join the Stone family in the reception area of Pinette & Lynch Funeral Home, where a video tribute of George’s life was presented during a light luncheon of fellowship.
Those in attendance were able to share their condolences and memories with George’s family.
Burial will follow later in the spring at Gracelawn Memorial Park in Auburn.
