TEMPE, ARIZ. – Paul E. Parent (CW04 Army ret.), 80, of Tempe, Ariz., formerly of Winthrop, died early Thursday morning, Dec. 13, at his home in Tempe, following a brief illness.

Born in Lewiston, July 24, 1926, he was the only child of Odilon and Colenette Pelletier Parent. He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1944.

He was a CW04 in the Army National Guard, where he worked in the Adjutant General’s department at Camp Keyes, Augusta. He retired in 1987 after 42 years of service.

On July 4, 1946, he married Jean A. Bouffard, also of Lewiston. In their 60 years together, they raised eight children.

He is survived by his wife, Jean of Arizona; children, Thomas A. of Redding, Calif., Paula and husband, Edmond Pelletier, of Greene, Julie and husband, Bob Lightner, of Del Mar, Calif., John P. and wife, Emily, of Katy, Texas, James W. and wife, Gretchen, of Tampa, Fla., David L. and wife, Cheryl, of Ahwatukee, Ariz., Barbara Loftus of Ahwatukee, Ariz., and Joseph L. and wife, Debra, of Poland; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
