RUMFORD – R. Douglas Hutchinson, 79, died Monday, April 2, at the Rumford Community Home. He was a resident of Byron.

Born in Mexico, Oct. 15, 1927, he was raised by Ellen and Fred Hutchinson. He was a graduate of Mexico High School with the Class of 1945. He worked for Boise Cascade as a millwright for over 40 years.

He was a member of the Mexico/Rumford Historical Society, King Hiram Lodge 57, Scottish Rite Valley of Lewiston and Auburn, and the Shrine Club. He wrote the book “Rumford Rangeley Lakes Railroad.”

He was married to the late Pearl McKinnon, and then married Irene Young, who survives, of Byron. Other survivors include a son, Mark Hutchinson and his wife, Janice, of Spokane, Wash.; daughters Colleen Hutchinson of Falmouth, Rhonda Warner and her husband, Michael, of Maryland, Heidi Villacci of Bethel, Lynne Cooper of St. Croix, and Shannon Atkinson and her husband, Adam, of Buckfield; stepsons Howard Noyes and his wife, Tammy, of Byron, and David Noyes of Byron; 20 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Leon Dragoon and his wife, Mary, of Colorado; sisters, Edythe Porter and her husband, Ellery, of Peru, Jenesta Brown and her husband, Frank, of Buckfield, Beverly Johnson and her husband, Wil, of Texas, and Ruth Lewis of Massachusetts.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Pearl McKinnon; and a daughter, Lorre Hutchinson.
