WASHINGTON – Double-A, Triple-A, majors: No matter the competition, Micah Owings is on quite a winning streak.

Owings allowed one hit in five shutout innings in his big league debut, and Chris Young homered and drove in four runs to help the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Washington Nationals 7-1 on Friday night.

Phillies 8, Marlins 2

MIAMI – Pat Burrell homered and drove in four runs, Jamie Moyer pitched 6 2-3 innings and the Philadelphia Phillies earned their first victory after three consecutive losses, beating the Florida Marlins 8-2 on Friday night.

Reds 6, Pirates 1

CINCINNATI – Jeff Conine hit a three-run homer and tripled on a frigid Friday night, leading the Cincinnati Reds to a 6-1 victory that ended the Pittsburgh Pirates’ unbeaten streak.

Cubs 9, Brewers 3

MILWAUKEE – Rich Hill retired his first 15 batters and allowed one hit in seven innings, leading the Chicago Cubs to a 9-3 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday night.

Hill, who was shaky in his final exhibition stint of the spring, got all the run support he needed before he stepped on the mound.

Cardinals 4, Astros 2

HOUSTON – Adam Wainwright allowed five hits and struck out four in his first career start Friday night, leading the defending World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals to a 4-2 victory over the winless Houston Astros.

Wainwright, who got the last out against Detroit to help St. Louis win the title, also had an RBI double and scored on Chris Duncan’s two-run homer in the third inning to help the Cardinals avoid their first 0-4 start since 1997.

Mets 11, Braves 1

ATLANTA – Jose Reyes hit two triples and drove in four runs, and Oliver Perez tossed seven strong innings to lead the New York Mets past the Atlanta Braves 11-1 Friday night.

The Mets are 4-0 for the first time since 1985, when they opened the season with five straight wins for their best start ever.

New York can match that start by beating the Braves on Saturday.
