GREENE – Cinematographer John Wilson will narrate his film, “Hawaii – The Pacific Paradise,” at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 12, and 2 and 7 p.m. Friday, April 13, at the Araxine Wilkins Sawyer Memorial, 371 Sawyer Road.

Admission is free and doors open one hour before shows.

Wilson is a Canadian award-winning, wildlife documentary filmmaker. His photographic career began at age of 21, when he set out on a voyage of discovery from Canada to Panama by motorcycle, then to Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands. After he returned home, Wilson was interviewed on radio and television. Soon people asked him to conduct seminars in wildlife studies and photography. His still photographs have appeared in Audubon and Ontario naturalist magazines, and he’s made films for television in Canada, England and the United States.

Wilson and his naturalist wife, Denice Wilkins, are building a passive solar home in rural Ontario and doing what they can to promote environmental awareness.

The audience will see six of the most beautiful islands on earth: Oahu, Maui, Hawaii, Kauai, Molokai and Lanai and go to sites seldom seen. On Oahu, they will visit Waikiki Beach, snorkel in Hanuama Bay, visit Pearl Harbor’s U.S.S. Arizona Memorial and Iolani and see the sites in Honolulu. On Maui, they will walk along the streets of Lahaina, an old whaling town, drive to the summit of a sleeping volcano in Haleakala National Park and explore the rainforest below.

On the Big Island, they will watch the lava flow at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, join the cowboys at Parker Ranch, play on snow-blanketed lava slopes, windsurf on Kona’s sunshine coast and visit Pu’uhonau National Historical Park. The audience will also visit the smaller islands.
