AUBURN – Laina O. Huotari, 79, died Friday, April 6, at the Hospice House in Auburn.

She was born in Lewiston, Nov. 24, 1927, the daughter of John and Louisa Ervasti Ojala.

She graduated from Edward Little High School.

Laina worked in banking and at WCBB as traffic manager for several years.

She married Roger E. Huotari in June 1954. He died in January 1989.

After relocating to Florida with her husband, Laina became a C.N.A. She worked in a Finnish nursing home and then primarily as a private duty C.N.A. She and Roger moved back to Maine in 1985.

She was a member of the Finnish-American Society and was proud of her Finnish heritage.

She enjoyed family reunions, Scrabble, 63, bingo, beano and county fairs. She took great pride in her large, loving family.

She is survived by three daughters, Sally and Ted Wallace of Enfield, Marilyn and Don Blanchard of Turner, and Betty Krizinauskas of Winthrop; four sons, Steve Bryant of Alabama, Paul Huotari and his fiancee, Jeannine Cloutier, of Palmyra, and Arne and Diane Huotari of St. Helena.
