FLORENCE, S.C. – Mary M. Hanchett, 76, of Ticonderoga, N.Y., passed away in Florence, S. C., on Wednesday, April 4.

She was born on April 3, 1931, in Hampton, N.Y., the daughter of the late Emil and Frances (Kantorowski) Karkoski.

She was employed as a library clerk at Ticonderoga High School for 10 years.

She moved to Maine in 1976 and lived there for 27 years before returning to Ticonderoga.

Survivors include four daughters, Beth Wright and her husband, Terry, and Julie Hebert and her husband, Pat, all of Ticonderoga, N.Y.; and twin daughters, Carla Newcomb and her husband, Richard, of Fairfield, Maine, and Paula Hanchett and her companion, Steve Miramont, of Kingfield, Maine; three grandchildren; several brothers and sisters; and many other relatives.

She was predeceased by her husband Jay A. Hanchett.
