NORTH JAY – Herschel and Lauristine (Cochran) Welch of North Jay, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Dec. 20.

They were treated at a brunch at the Homestead Restaurant in Farmington by their sons and wives and grandchildren. Later that day, they were given a surprise 50th anniversary sock hop party at the home of Tony and Irene Couture in Jay.

Many family members and friends attended from Jay, Wilton, Farmington, Chesterville, Norridgewock, Winthrop, Lewiston, Portland, New York, Florida, Utah, Michigan and China.

They are the parents of Herschel Jr. and wife, Arlene, of Jay, Rick and wife, Jodi, of Livonia, N.Y., and Dale and wife, Mary, of Jay. They are the proud grandparents of Christa, Ryan, Michelle, Brandon, Courtney, Kevin, Ericka, Skye and Colton Welch.
