LEWISTON – The gathering of “La Rencontre,” usually held on the first Friday of the month at the Franco-American Heritage Center, will be held on Friday, April 13. The date has been pushed back one week due to Good Friday. It will be going back to its original first Friday schedule in May.
The featured performers this month will be members of the “Just Us Entertainers,” presenting a variety of French songs. The group of eight to 10 men and women will be accompanied by Lionel Meservier at the keyboard.
The menu will include meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy, peas with pearl onions, rolls and butter, beverages and hot fudge sundaes. The meal will be prepared by the Lewiston Culinary Arts School.
The event will begin at 11:30 a.m. and run approximately two hours. The goal of each Rencontre is to speak only French during the period. The numbers have grown over the years to approximately 300.
Everyone is welcome. The price for the meal and the musical program is $6.50 a person. For reservations, call Claudette at 786-6936 or the center at 783-1585.
