LEWISTON – A woman wanted in connection with the stabbing of her ex-boyfriend last Tuesday was apprehended Saturday morning after a Lewiston resident recognized the suspect and tipped off police.
“I just happened to look over and see her sneaking around to the back of the building, instead of the front entrance,” the witness said. “She got out of the passenger side of a car and then the driver waited outside with the car running while she went in.”
Police responded to 124 Pine St. around 11 a.m. and found Laurie Diggins in her apartment gathering personal belongings, Sgt. Danny LaChance said.
“There was a man waiting outside in a car for her,” LaChance confirmed.
Police said had been searching for the 49-year-old woman since she fled from her apartment after, acccording to police, stabbing Marcus McEachern, 35, of 88 Bartlett St., in the shin. McEachern’s injuries were not life-threatening.
According to LaChance, Diggins was cooperative when police showed up to arrest her.
Diggins was being held Sunday night on $10,000 cash or $25,000 surety bail at the Androscoggin County Jail.
