NORWAY – Bertha Ida Stevens, 93, of Bethel, died April 9, at Stephen’s Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Greenwood, on May 21, 1913, the daughter of Ralph and Alice (Rowe) Herrick. She attended Patch Mountain schools, and graduated from South Paris High School in 1932, the same year she married Clyde A. Stevens. they were married 64 years before his death in 1996. She was a member of the Mothers Club of Bethel, and the Ladies Circle of Locke Mills.

She is survived by one son, Paul Stevens of Rumford; five daughters, Charlotte Rowe of Raymond, Beatrice Hicks of Gardiner, Florence Walker of Bryant Pond, Christine Ulrickson of Norway, and Cheryl Young of Bethel; one sister, Pearl Chapman of Norway; a daughter-in-law, Janice Stevens of North Haven, Conn.; 22 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband; one son, David Stevens; two brothers, Leonard and Lawrence; and three sisters, Eva Pierce, Mabel Herrick and Rose Rand.
